For additional information about Juniors League Rules, see the “Juniors” section in the OPLL By-Laws which can be found the “Downloadable Forms & Files” section of the website. The Juniors league will be a combination kids pitch/coaches pitch league. A different player will pitch each inning, throwing maximum of 5 throws per batter. If the batter does not get a hit or does not strike out, then a coach will pitch to the batter. There will be no bunting or stealing in this league and no standings will be kept. This league prepares the kids for 100% kid pitch in Minors.
All players in this league should play all positions, and no player will sit for 2 consecutive innings. It is important to remember that the Juniors league is to be used for development of our players. To help with that, we have included a lineup card excel spreadsheet that is a great aid in helping Coaches create their lineups. Also, we have included a sample “Parent Introduction Letter” that should be distributed at your first practice so all parents have the information they need to start season.
Contact Wayne Hemmerling, the Juniors Commissioner, if you have any further questions. Enjoy your season!
